Crypto++ 8.2

Crypto++ 8.2 was released on April 28, 2019. The 8.2 release was a minor, unplanned release. There are no CVEs or memory errors.

The call tracking feature of DirectMail2.0 allows clients to track exactly how many calls they receive from each campaign and allows them to listen to recordings of their phone calls to ensure their reception and sales process is running smoothly. It is definitely a short demo, about 15-20 minutes of play time, but it gives you a lot of insight into the depth and design of the upcoming release of the full game! Puzzles, jumpscares, doggos, this game is definitely worth a shot. If you guys want to check out my own personal playthrough of the demo.

Two bugs were cleared that could cause discomfort for users. First, PowerPC switched from POWER7 to POWER8 for unaligned loads and stores. The bug affected Debian users on some PowerPC machines. Second, SHAKE-128 and SHAKE-256 constructors were fixed. The bug affected older GCC and some other compilers.

Demo 2.0 Release Date

The bug fix and minor issue list for Crypto++ 8.2 follows. Many non-trivial issues are tracked for auditing and C&A purposes, but the list may not be complete. A number in parenthesis is the GitHub Issue number, if it was tracked. Sometimes a Git commit is referenced, but many trivial GitHub commits are omitted. Missing Issue numbers or lack of consecutiveness usually indicates feature requests and 'won't fix/can't fix' type reports.

setenv-android.sh

The cross-compile script setenv-android.sh is no longer viable for building the library using the Android NDK. Recent NDK changes has mostly obsoleted the script. We are moving to a new script but it is not ready at the moment. Also see Issue 763, Building for Android using NDK not supported on Windows hosts.

We have a GitHub setup with yet another build system at cryptopp-android. It provides Android.mk for Android's build system.

FIPS DLL deprecation

The FIPS DLL used to be an important artifact for Windows builds. NIST moved the Crypto++ library to the Historical Validation List in 2014. The Windows DLL is no longer validated.

The project files to build the FIPS DLL are cryptdll.vcxproj and dlltest.vcxproj. The projects are now deprecated and subject to removal.

The latest version, SmartDeploy 2.0.3060, is now available to download and install. One of the big objectives in this release was to make it even easier to perform common tasks our customers rely on SmartDeploy to perform. Two big updates that I’m most excited about are the ability to easily create a custom Microsoft Office 365 Application Pack, directly within SmartDeploy. And the ability to remotely deploy BIOS updates as part of a Platform Pack update. Configure Office 365 Pack

SmartDeploy now streamlines the remote deployment of Microsoft Office 365 with custom configurations you select when creating your O365 Application Pack. Use the new “Configure Office 365” task to easily specify Office Suite version, language, update channel, and more. You’ll also select whether to include products like Visio, Project, and OneNote. Once created, you can deploy your custom O365 Application Pack independently or combine it with your golden image in a Deployment Package for zero-touch installations. “Run MSI Package” Task

Easily create Application Packs containing MSI installers by using the new “Run MSI Package” task. The task will automatically configure the installation and provides options for avoiding reboot and quiet installation.

One-Click BIOS Updates

Pushing an updated Platform Pack to an end user device will now run BIOS updates as well as other tasks, like hotkey software and firmware updates, making it easier to keep all devices up to date.

Run Remote Scripts

You’ll now find pre-built Script Packs ready for download within the Application Pack Library. These can be deployed independently or combined with an image in a Deployment Package. Identify these with the new “Type” column within the library.

Customize your default home screen to display basic or advanced shortcuts to quickly access the features you use most often.

Performance, usability, and security enhancements
